David Moss - Featured Fly Tyer May 17
May 14, 2008 by mountainriverjournal
THIS week’s Featured Fly Tyer is another well-credentialed warm and cold water tyer David Moss, who you have probably seen at tying events but never quite new who he was.
When the Journal first met David several years he was president of the Northeastern Oklahoma Flyfishers which runs the Smallmouth Rendezvous.David would tell of us trout chasing expeditions but his eyes would light up at “secret” little warmwater spots for smallmouth, bream or white bass _ sandies as they call them across the border.
Now David resides in Cherokee Village, happily a lot closer to the White, and it will be a lot of fun to have him here tying. He will be tying the Articulated Woolly Bugger and the Shag Fly.
David’s bio: David Moss ties at several events each year, included in these have been the Smallmouth Rendezvous and the Sowbug Roundup. He likes to work with new materials and experiments in new ways to tie flies.
He has worked with several different childrens groups teaching them how to flyfish and to tie flies and has worked with the Boy Scouts in helping them earn their flyfishing merit badge.
He is the past president of the Northeastern Oklahoma Flyfishers and the past chairman of the Smallmouth Rendezvous.
For your calendar May 24 we will feature former San Juan guide and midge specialist Richard Ramsay.
On May 31 the featured tyer will be local icon Tony Spezio. Don’t miss either event.
