The White River is fishing outstandingly with lots of 15-20″ fish “fat and sassy as the saying goes, and many of the browns are coloring up for the spawn. Generation on Norfork has dropped to 1 unit.
WHITE RIVER: Davy Wotton has been on the river more than most of the rest of the Mountain River crew, and he reported in that the river is full of great looking fish that have grown well during the high water. “This is as goos as you will find anywhere”. Toss in a 60-fish day at Rim Shoals, plus some “class ‘bows and browns and you can see why Davy has been enjoying the past week and a half.
“Many of the Browns we are now catching at BSD are starting to color up some for the spawn time”, he said. “Typically at this time of the year we start to see Browns begin the upstream migration, certainly that is the case as l see it as we now find numbers of fish congregated within smaller zones of the river and not so spread out. “
San Juans and Dynamite Worms continue to fare well but Davy also said he had been trying a number of caddis larvae, plus sowbugs and hare’s ear patterns with some success.
NORFORK: Generation continues around the clock on Norfork. But with now 1 unit of generation this opens some windows for experienced canoeists to access islands and gravel points to get some wading in.
We would still be trying San Juan Worms, eggs patterns plus larger midges, scuds and sowbugs. Hopefully with the lake dropping we might get some low water openings soon.
