This weekend marks, for many people, the opening of the 09 trout season, so the timing of this weeks Ice Storm could not have come at a worse time.
Most of the region is still without power, most of Cotter. Mountain Home, Bull Shoals and Norfork.

Sitting here watching limbs break off trees around the Journal’s home. We have had about an inch of ice overnight and more coming. It seems this is a case of waiting for when the power will go out not if. So the Journal this week is pending, shall we say.

It is said that of you want to catch a trophy fish leave the camera, or the net at home. When Steve Fisher caught this chunky brown a couple of weeks back on the river with Davy Wotton, it was right. Davy actually had left his camera at home. Thank goodness for cell phones.

It was 11 degrees last Friday when we drove down the hill into a snow covered carpark and big flakes were still falling. There’s only 1 good reason to be out in such conditions and big trout was it.
